Every year our aim is to raise autism awareness in our community. Within the Autism Community there are many Superheroes, from the individuals on the spectrum who work hard every day to be understood and accepted, to the parents who fight to secure services their children need. Alongside families are the teachers and therapists who devote themselves to nurturing and helping people affected by autism to achieve their potential and businesses and others in the community who are supportive and open to the richness that the neuro-diverse bring to our community. We celebrate the strides we have made while also raising much needed funds to support families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder.
For more than 22 years, HMEA’s Autism Resource Central has played an integral part in the lives of thousands of families who need support, resources and an understanding community.
We hope you join us in commitment to raise the funds necessary to keep our doors open for families with a child or adult with ASD and be able to provide information and referral, education and support to over 4,000 families here in central Massachusetts challenged by Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The Funds raised will go to providing activities and supports for over 4,000 families affected by autism in Central Massachusetts. Your fundraising dollars stay here to support the programs at HMEA’s Autism Resource Central that empower those on the autism spectrum and their families, so they are valued for their talents, gifts and contributions.
How do you join the Autism Super Hero 5K?
Register as a walker or a runner. Set a fundraising goal (minimum is $300) Then send out e-mails to family and friends to support you by donating to your page.
Check out the awesome fundraising nights we’ve organized to help you reach YOUR goal. Bingo and Trivia nights will be happening in the months leading up to the event. The fees of people who register to support you will go into your page. These nights are fun and you can win prizes .
Help us sell Raffle tickets. People who buy raffle tickets can designate your page to receive the fees they pay to enter the raffles.
Starting April 17th begin your walk or run. You can do it all in one day or spread it out so long as you travel 5K (that’s 3.10686 miles).
Those who pledge and raise $300 will receive a T-shirts , (personlized capes and teddy bears for the first 50 kids under 10 registered) participation medals , bib numbers and receive 2 virtual incentive packets with coupons and discounts for local businesses during the two week period.
If you wish to walk to support the Center and not fundraise, you pay a registration fee of $25 for the 1st adult in your HOUSEHOLD and then $5.00 for each additional family member. The first 50 kids under 10 registered will recieve a personalized cape and teddy bear.
