Autism Is Not Mythical
Thank you so much for coming to check out my donations page. The Autism Resource Center of Central Massachusetts has been running this great race for many years and I am so glad to be a part of such a successful event again this year.
I had a unique upbringing with an autistic brother. It was challenging, heart warming, frustrating, and full of love and laughter. It is hard to explain to an outsider how challenging some moments can be and yet how completely glad I am to have been shaped by this experience. I truly believe that William has taught me to be more patient, understanding and accepting of people around me.
I assume if you are here, you know me, my family and hopefully you have had the luxury of meeting William. And when you did I bet you even got to share in a song and lots of laughter... I'm lovin' it, AAAACCCHHHHHOOOOOOO
My theme this year in William's honor is "Autism Is Not Mythical." I think that it captures his love for Mythical Creatures and also the sentiment that we are looking for awareness and through this awareness acceptance. Autism is not a disease that we cure, but a condition that people have that is varied and poorly understood. But if you take a moment of acceptance and give any Autistic person a chance you will see the world in an entirely different way.
Thank you for your time, your consideration, your love and any amount that you can donate to such a worthy cause!
Love Jill and the entire Perreira Family
