HMEA's Autism Resource Central's annual Walk/Run fundraiser for Autism Acceptance
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. As many of you know I work at the Autism Resource Central as the Autism Activities Coordinator. In this position it is my responsibility to setup autism friendly activities for our members and their families. This year we really need your help. With Covid-19 disrupting everyone's life, it has effected our fundraising efforts. We had to go to a virtual walk with a lot less donations and sponsors.
This past year has been very tough for all of us. I have spent many hours on Zoom, a virtual platform, with my friends from the Center. The time we have spent together has been a lot of Fun. We have played Legos, learned how to play Mind Craft, learned about robotics and put together a small robot. Gone on scavenger hunts, played sidewalk chalk, built a birdhouse, built a bird feeder, tie dyed t-shirts, built fairy homes, painted sayings on rocks and had lots of FUN.
I was Santa Claus delivering gifts to families who had registered for a Santa visit. We delivered gifts to 82 kids in Central Massachusetts over two days thanks to a sponsorship from a local business.
I planned and executed 3 one week sessions of "camp", Camp Safe at Home, August 2020, Camp No Place Like Home, December 2020, and Camp Snowbound, February 2021. I'm planning for Camp Spring Time, April 2021.
Through the generosity of donors I have been able to run these camps for the kids. Each camp costs about $100 per person to operate. The families get a box full of all the stuff they need for a week of FUN.
I am counting on the generosity of all my family and friends to help me bring the FUN to the kids. I have made a donation of $400.00 to kick off my fundraising goal of $1000.00. The last 2 years Eric and I have had a bowling night to celebrate our birthdays. The money we raised from the event was donated to the Center. We were unable to have the event this year due to the pandemic so I have donated the cost of the event to the Center.
I have been doing many activities virtually, it is ok for now but once we are able to come together again, we will need monies to provide the activities the kids love and enjoy. Going to the zoo, Edaville Railroad, Breezy Picnic Grounds and Waterslides, Urban Air, RambleWild Ariel Park and many more.
Please help me help these kids get back to enjoying the things they love.
