Hi It's Katie! Welcome to My Personal Page
Dear Family and Friends,
On Sunday, May 19th, Katie is once again participating in a 5K Run/Walk (mostly walk!) to help raise money for her day program at HMEA. HMEA provides services to adults with disabilities ages 22-102. Katie’s particular program, with close to 70 individuals, is work-based which allows her to volunteer, provide community service and be paid for her work. It's hard to believe this is Katie's fifth year at HMEA and she loves being a "young lady" and working each day.
The individuals in her program are involved in all sorts of jobs including landscaping, food service, helping our senior citizens, running a full service flower shop and many others. Katie's favorite jobs are washing the firetrucks at a local fire station, delivering meals for Meals on Wheels and being a member of a crew that is working 2 plots at a community garden. She loves to work and is proud of the contribution she is making.
What makes this fundraiser different from many others is that all of the donations stay in our local community and these donations keep the participants engaged, social and productive.
With the funds raised last year, HMEA Hopedale was able to,among other things, purchase additional equipment for its landscaping crew and renew a 15 member fitness pass to our local YMCA. We would love it if you found HMEA worthy of your hard earned charitable dollars and on behalf of Katie and our family, thank you.
